Students at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans were recently visited by the Hermann-Grima/Gallier Education Coordinators. Lindsay and I introduced the students to archeology and excavation in the French Quarter. We explained to them why excavations are conducted and some of the challenges faced when digging in New Orleans! Our water table is usually on 42 inches below the ground!
The students will soon be visiting Gallier House to conduct a dig of their own. Everyone is anxious to see what they will uncover in the courtyard!
